Core Curriculum
The School of Foreign Service's interdisciplinary core curriculum consists of the following requirements:
I. One Proseminar (INAF 100) (Waived for Transfer Students)
II. Two Philosophy courses
1. Political & Social Thought (PHIL 099)
2. A second PHIL course numbered between 001-199
III. Two Theology courses
1. The Problem of God (THEO 001), Introduction to Biblical Literature (THEO 011), or History of Asian Cultures (HIST 120 or 121)
2. A second THEO course or History of Asian Cultures (HIST 120 or 121)
IV. Two Humanities & Writing courses
1. Critical Reading & Writing (HUMW 011)
2. A second course selected from the Humanities & Writing list.
V. Two Government courses
1. Introduction to International Relations (GOVT 006)
2. Comparative Political Systems (GOVT 121)
VI. Three History courses
1. 1st History choices: World History (HIST 001 or 002), History of the Atlantic World (HIST 003), or Themes in European Civilization (HIST 033 or 034)
2. An approved non-western regional history I
3. An approved non-western regional history II
VII. Four Economics courses
1. Microeconomic Principles (ECON 001)
2. Macroeconomic Principles (ECON 002)
3. International Trade (ECON 243)
4. International Finance (ECON 244)
VIII. Map of the Modern World (INAF 008)
IX. Proficiency in a Modern Foreign Language
